Imagine going to the dentist and undergoing a complex dental treatment without any anxiety. At our  office we are pleased to offer our patients the option of comfortable, safe, and effective sedation dentistry. Patients who benefit from sedation dentistry have:

  • A fear or anxiety of going to the dentist
  • A fear of needles and sharp instruments
  • A hard time sitting still in the dental chair
  • A hard time getting numb

WHAT IS SEDATION DENTISTRY?

Patients who have been sedated at our dentist office will tell you it is a comfortable and relaxing method to experience dental treatment. At our office we safely and comfortably provide sedation for patients who experience anxiety when visiting the dentist. The advantages of sedation in dentistry include:

  • Decreased memory of the procedure
  • Decreased sense of time while under sedation
  • Decreased sense of sound from dental rotary instruments
  • Decreased fear or anxiety during treatment

I am fearful of the dentist but at same time do not wish to be put out for any procedures

At our  office we can offer two methods of sedation without completely making you unconscious during your dental treatment

Nitrous Oxide Sedation — Nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas" or "happy gas", is the most frequently used method for easing mild to moderate anxiety at Exceptional Dentistry. Recovery is very fast and you can even drive home following the procedure. A mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide is inhaled through a mask for the duration of your dental treatment and you will be able to communicate, or watch TV on our ceiling mounted monitors until your dental treatment is completed. We use nitrous oxide along with Pediatric dentistry routinely so that children will have a comfortable dental experience.

Oral Sedation — Another common method used in dentistry to sedate is the use of a prescription pill. A Pill is usually taken 1/2 hour prior to your appointment and will have you relaxed by the time you arrive at our office.

If you have any questions regarding dental sedation, or are fearful about dentistry please make an appointment with Dr. Michael Mazaheri to discuss your sedation options.
